In the spring of 2014 Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen brings together works from all over the world by three artists who were decisive for the development of modern art. This is the first exhibition to combine sculptures by Brancusi, Rosso and Man Ray together with their photographs, affording a unique insight into the artists’ working methods.
Masterpieces that have rarely or never been seen in the Netherlands will be lent by important museums such as the Centre Pompidou, MoMA and Tate Modern.
Oskar Kokoschka – Portraits of People and Animals

Oskar Kokoschka, the enfant terrible of the Vienna of Klimt and Freud, inspired an entire generation of artists. His portraits of people and animals are the subject of a major exhibition at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen this autumn. More than a hundred and forty of his paintings and drawings of leading figures within the Austrian avant-garde are coming to Rotterdam.

This summer the Print Room is hosting an exhibition of 35 lithographs by Rotterdamborn artist Wally Elenbaas. The exhibition coincides with the publication of the book ‘Grafiek Wally Elenbaas’.
The two-month exhibition in the Print Room comprises a selection of early prints by Wally Elenbaas (1912-2008). The majority of the works come from the museum’s own collection.

This summer, the largest exhibition rooms in Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen will be dedicated to internationally renowned contemporary artists who have had Rotterdam as the cradle for their artistic career. The exhibition includes works by Atelier Van Lieshout, Daan van Golden and Jeanne van Heeswijk, and offers a retrospective of the policy followed by the Rotterdam City Collection over the last 25 years.
