Nespresso Presents Exhibit Of Nine Colossal Stone Figures By Artist Ugo Rondinone At Rockefeller Center® April 23-June 7

NEW YORK, April 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Nespresso, the worldwide pioneer and reference in premium, portioned coffee, is proud to announce Ugo Rondinone: Human Nature, Presented by Nespresso, an outdoor exhibition organized by Public Art Fund and Tishman Speyer that will transform Rockefeller Center for seven weeks, starting April 23 through June 7. Nine 16-foot-tall, human-shaped stone figures by the Swiss-born, New York-based artist will inhabit the plaza between 49th and 50th Streets, transporting visitors to another world.

Rondinone’s visually-arresting, enormous stone figures are on view in Rockefeller Plaza where the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is displayed each year.  Massive bluestone slabs have been rough-cut into blocks and stacked on top of each other to resemble the human form. The artist has largely left the rocks’ surfaces as they were found—heavy and coarse, scored by quartz veins and marked by wind, weather, and erosion. The colossal figures will be free to the public and on display for visitors to explore, study, and wander amongst.

“As a brand rooted in innovation and design, we are constantly seeking inspiration through art and culture from all over the world,” said Frederic Levy, President, Nespresso USA. “It is an honor to present Ugo Rondinone‘s Human Nature exhibit at Rockefeller Center and to be part of an event that so beautifully celebrates artistic expression and shares in our passion to inspire and be inspired.”

“By supporting artists both locally and globally, we’re able to deliver a distinctively sensorial dimension to the Nespresso brand experience for which we’ve always been known.”
