Home…Where the Art Is
Fiftteen of Miami’S leading artists create exclusive evocations of “HOME” for the UM Lowe Art Museum
Donated works to be auctioned at Spring Into Art 2009
March 11, 2009 at the University of Miami Lowe Art Museum
At a moment when the concept of “Home” takes on a heightened emotional and cultural resonance throughout our community, 15 of Miami’s most treasured artists create evocations of “Home” for auction at this year’s Spring Into Art – themed “Home…Where the Art Is,” the annual fund-raiser for the University of Miami Lowe Art Museum, sponsored by Friends of Art.
Carlos Alves, Susan Banks, Carlos Betancourt, Margarita Cano, Pablo Cano, Les Cizek, Xavier Cortada, Edouard Duval-Carrié, Sheila Elias, Ruben Torres Llorca, Lisa Remeny, Karen A. Rifas, Louise Romeo, Laurinda Spear, and Donna Underwood have accepted the request to share their interpretations of “Home” in the media of each artist’s choosing.
This year’s event will be Wednesday, March 11, at 7 PM – at the Lowe Art Museum on the University of Miami campus. In addition to the featured artists’ works, there will be close to 150 donated artworks, gift certificates and other treasures to bid on.
As in other years, the featured art by Miami’s outstanding artists at Spring Into Art adds an aura of excitement to the annual event that has been growing in popularity and quality for the last 10 years. The evening – a festive silent auction and cocktail party – has raised more and more money each year for the benefit of the Lowe. Last year’s proceeds topped $100,000.
