Arts Council Napa Valley and Visit Napa Valley Launch The Napa Valley Collection, A First-time Cataloguing of Arts in the Napa Valley

NAPA VALLEY, Calif., June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Arts Council Napa Valley, in partnership with Visit Napa Valley, announces the launch of The Napa Valley Collection, a first-time, valley-wide cataloging of notable art collections at arts institutions, wineries, and galleries in the region. The Collection can be explored online at napavalleycollection.com, a new and growing resource for visitors to discover the story of arts in the Napa Valley, plan art-themed itineraries including formerly hidden art attractions and cultural gems, and reserve arts-oriented hotel packages.

“Guests of the Napa Valley list exploring the arts as one of their top five activities while visiting the region,” said Clay Gregory, president and CEO of Visit Napa Valley. “It’s no surprise as the arts and music scene pair brilliantly with the region’s famed wine.”

The Napa Valley Collection is composed of more than 40 arts and culture institutions and 70 wineries housing a total of more than 10,000 works of art by artists such as: Francis Bacon, a painter known for his bold and graphic imagery; Jean Dubuffet, who used paint thickened by sand, tar and straw; and George Rickey, a stainless steel sculptor. The Collection also includes more than 90 public art installations combined of rotating and permanent outdoor exhibitions; and eight performance venues where international, classical and popular music can be heard.

“We have a lush cultural landscape in this region, and the Napa Valley Collection provides a comprehensive way to engage in our arts scene and celebrate its character,” said Olivia Everett, executive director and CEO of Arts Council Napa Valley.

The Napa Valley Collection’s founding partners include the valley’s most prominent art institutions and gallery spaces: The Hess Collection, di Rosa, Napa Valley Museum, Gordon Huether Gallery, and Robert Louis Stevenson Museum.
